The Tahanea and Motutunga

It was a pleasure after a full days at the seaside to awaken within view of a reef dolphin ring and the blue water of the Tahanea Toil. In addition I took a group of fearless birdwatchers with me on a Zodiac trip over the antoll. Destination: Tuvamotu Stint, a small animal native to the Tuvamotu archipelago.

On a small, untouched, sand road we ended up on a small motorcycle and soon got a closer look at this inquisitive beach runner. Like many others here in Polynesia, these species are threatened with extinction and quite docile. For almost an hours we observed different kinds of bird before we returned via the antoll.

We moved to Motutunga for dinner. The National Geographic Orion remained outside the tunnel because the passport is too small for our boat. and we were drifting with the tide. Waters were clear and full of corals and freshly caught sea life.

It was not only a great snorkel, but it was also great enjoy!
