The Molokai to Oahu Ferry

The ferries only run between the islands Maui and Lanai and between Maui and Molokai. The ferry company runs between Maui and Molokai. From Maui you can also take a boat to and from Molokai. Although Molokai is the nearest island to Oahu (Honolulu is on Oahu), we are not aware of any regular passenger boat traffic from Oahu to Molokai. The island of Molokai has no public transport.

Arrival to Molokai

Molokai (or one of the other Islands in Hawaii) is the most frequent way for tourists and people. Though Molokai has the least number of tourists, it has a single modern passenger airfield that arrives and departs almost every hour during the night. From Maui you can also take a trip by ferry to and from Molokai.

Hubschrauberfirmen' range of aircraft maintenance and repair activities includes transporting helicopters directly between the Hawaii islands, although none of the aircraft maintenance departments have an office on Molokai.

The Molokai ferry is decommissioned - cannot rival subsidised air fares

Hawaii's longest long-distance cruise between the islands needs a new charterer. Since 1987 Sea Link of Hawaii runs between Maui and Molokai (and occasionally also to Oahu). The important work has been missed in recent years and needs a well-connected new ownership to get our continued services and funding for a new vessel from the state.

It has a fare for passenger and cargo between Maui, Molokai and Oahu. Molokai Ferry" for an outline of our activities. For years, this has been a non-invasive and whale-friendly experience for the inhabitants of the state. The Molokai Princess' present poll value is $600,000.

Funding for one or more skilled buyers with very close links to Hawaii. Dear friends and neighbours, an open cover to passengers, skippers, crew and all Molokai ferry sponsors, after almost 30 years, Sea Link of Hawaii, Inc. "SLH ") unfortunately has to stop transporting goods to Hawaii, also between Molokai and Maui, for economical reason.

It is not yet known exactly when the SLH will suspend the services, but SLH expects the transfer of its licence to the Public Utilities Commission ("PUC") to take effect sometime in the coming fewweek. SLH's transport services are controlled by the PUC and there are certain price and distance demands on all controlled transport companies.

Throughout the years, SLH has been lucky enough to be able to maintain its service, partly due to certain allowances and subventions that have allowed SLH to withstand various economical circumstances that have led to times of low passenger numbers. SLH, however, no longer has any allowances and subventions, and attempts to obtain new allowances and subventions have been fruitless.

In the meantime, it will allow commuting carriers, which receive long run government subsidies in the million range, to offer lower costs than SLH's regular fares and the possibility to change ticketing prices and timetables at will, giving them greater freedom to adapt to changes in demands on the markets.

Unfortunately, SLH is not in a position to successfully rival uncontrolled airlines that receive large government subsidies. The SLH plans to announce the consent of the PUC to the application of the SLH to waive its licence if/when such an authorisation has been granted by the PUC. It' been an honour serving our Hawaiian neighbours for the past 29 years.
