Remnants of a sunken slag cones have formed the lovely bay where this crescent-shaped one is. On the southern end of the village centre there is a road that leads past an old graveyard. The trail intersects the shore line and leads up and along the outside of the blast furnace heap.

It is a small road and the ground is bad, but at the end of the road you will find Red Sand Beaches. It is a very small sandy area, but one should not miss it. The most populous of the islands in Hawaii, Oahu is the most popular tourist city.

Most beaches are full of local people and visitors on a beautiful outing. The Polo Beach is a favourite place for naked sun worshippers. It' s situated in Mokuleia, on the northern shore, west of Waialua, near Dillingham Air Field. The Kahuku Beach is situated off Route 83, about 2 nautical mile from Laie on the northeastern Oahu coastline.

It is a welcome way out of the crowd in Honolulu. The Molokai is the least frequented of the most important of Hawaii's islands (excluding Kaho'olawe, which is open to the public). One of the longest beaches in the whole wide open air landscape, Papohaku Strand almost provides a privacy and seclusion for undisturbed suntanning.
