Aim of this research is to characterise the incidence of the derivative allerle in the population of 387907171 in New Britain and Northern Island Melanesia, to validate its associations with brighter hair colour and to clarify the hypothesis of its evolving story. 387907171 was genetically determined in 93 New Britain and 101 Bougainville specimens for which qualitative evaluations of hair and complexion pigments were available.

In combination with available information from other Melanesian isles, we have studied the difference in allelic frequency between the isles and the association with ANOVA hair and complexion pigments, which include gender, ages and island-association as covariables. All alleles deriving from rs387907171 were found in a unique copy in the New Britain and Bougainville population genotypes.

The incidence of hair pigments varies significantly between countries in the area ( =F .5, df =F , ?, df =F .001). The incidence of hair pigments in hair pigments is significant, though mild, in all cases (F =P .28, R2 =df .0125, df =df?.0014). SNP 387907171 shows large allelic difference in frequencies between the North Island islets. The lack of Bougainville and the faint associations with reduced hair colour suggest that extra alevels are contributing to the blond istology.

The geographical dispersion of rs387907171 indicates that a Lapita-mediated distributed variant of the derivative argyle is still a useful evolving one.
