Cultures of the Pacific Islands are highlighted in the Tuzin Archives of Melanesian Anthropology. So what has become of ritualised homosexuality? Contemporary Sexuality in Melanesia and elsewhere. - PUBmed

This article examines the heritage of ritualised homogeneity as a behavioural praxis and as an analytical research class in Melanesia since the early 1980s. One case report on significant changes in the Gebusi of Papua New Guinea indicates that ritualised homosexuality and boy sex have become behavioural vestigially or moribund and that it has been hard to characterise sex in these notions (as the initial advocate of these notions himself suggested).

The historic transformation in Melanesia shows the connection between the current constructions of straight sex standards and the desire for local progressive and up-to-date developments. More importantly, how can sexologists unknowingly embrace the ideology of sex choices and liberty in the West, while viewing historic and non-Western practice as linked to culture rather than open to personal research and humanity.
