Marotiri Island
Island MarotiriThe Marotiri Rock - not for the faint-hearted!
On October 7, 2014, after a steamy evening from the island of Rapa, France-Polynesia, we came at daybreak to be welcomed by the whining winds and the rolls stomping the cliffs. However, we took the liberty to go to this wilderness place as part of our South France-Polynesia journey and wanted to make the best of it.
The volcanically originating Marotiri Rock are also known as Morotiri Rock, Mototiri Rock and Bass Rock (Îlots de Bass in French). Situated 75 kilometers southeast of Rapa Island, they are part of the Austral Island Group in French Polynesia.
