Also it has a completely different appearance than Queenstown or Tekapo, which also lie at the lake.
Wanaka can be reached by cars. You must either rent a vehicle or take a coach to get to Wanaka. Whilst Wanaka has an airfield for sightseeing and charters, there are no business services to Wanaka. You can, however, take a flight to Queenstown Aiport, the nearest nearby Aiport, and then travel to Wanaka or take a coach.

Vanaka is only an hours walk from Makarora Valley, where you can explore the Haast Highway with Blue Pools, Fantail Falls and Thunder Creek Falls. Now you must go to the Google Maps website to see the map of Wanaka.
