About the Mamanuca Islands - About Fiji
The Mamanuca ( "Ma-ma-noo-tha") Islands are a small island rather than a large island, a vulcanic island of 20 islands just off Viti Levu and the Yasawa Islands. The Mamanuca' s major attraction are beautiful islands near the Viti Levu land. From Port Denarau Marina it is also an easy way to get to Mamanuca Island Resort by air.
Sheltered by the Malolo Barrier Reef, the islands in the Mamanucas are the scenic Fiji vacation experiences many people have dreamed of, among them Fiji's only surface Bure at Likuliku Island resort. Mamanucas love Fiji marriages thanks to a great selection of resorts and honeymoon organizers who are familiar with painstaking packages that demand them.
Mamanucas appear on a regular basis in honeymoon books all over the world. Turquoise-coloured water washes around the bank under a hot tropic suntan. Bula's old-fashioned Fiji salute (meaning "hello") can be heard on the islands where, as always, the natives are living in old-fashioned towns next to resort establishments ranging from budgets to comforts.
Malolo Barrier Reaef attracts diver to its colorful reefs while snorkellers float above kaleidoscope like sea-fishes, which dance amidst hard bodies of hard water underwater. Sailers will also find secure moorings on the cove with the Musket Cove Resort on Malolo Lailai and Plantation Island near by, inviting the crew to moor or moor in the harbor.
For those who like windsurfing, the Mamanucas have some of Fiji's biggest (and most challenging) windsurf breaking, some of which are world-famous. It is only a brief cruise from Tavarua Island, as is the restaurant stop, while the Wilkes Passage is within easy reach from Plantation Island.
