the South Island is the real mainland: Cécile Meyer
Pukaki Lake is a bluestone I didn't even know was there. There are two kinds of New Zealanders. The people who approve of Southern Island are the best, and those who lie. We saw seas in blues and greens to the north that we never knew were there, wandered through snow covered summits, rode on streets lined with vast sky and gold tufts, and stemmed across Lake Wakatipu.
Nowadays Wellington and Auckland are thrilling towns, and there are more geothermic activities and culture as well. However, the isle is New Zealand, only more. It is no wonder that it is known by the nickname "The Mainland". When you drive through the southern isle, it is uphill after downhill, to gentle hill. If you go southwards, it is uphill after downhill, to gentle slopes and you are often on your own.
But most of the tourism comes to New Zealand via Auckland. Townspeople don't seem to know how much more astonishing the North is. On the other hand, many don't seem to know that New Zealand has two isles, and others have probably been planning to come here from Sydney. Attracting the same number of people to the island means that someone is not doing their jobs right.
You only have about five working nights to select an isle. You seem to have listened to more about North Islands and Auckland than all of the other southern islands together. Whatever islands you are visiting, you will miss breathtaking places of interest. However, when they are exploring the southern hemisphere, I have the feeling that they have seen what makes New Zealand so special.
