Laucala Island
Island LaucalaThe Laucala Island Resort, Fiji
Laucala Island is undoubtedly one of the best island destinations in the whole wide globe and once there it is simple to understand why. It was purchased in 2003 by Malcolm Forbes from Dietrich Mateschitz, co-founder and proprietor of Red Bull. Until 2008 he had made the island of Laucala probably the best island place in the atlantic.
When you have your own plane, you can arrive directly on the island and the custom officer will pass for you, so you do not have to travel through one of the most important Fiji airfields. The Laucala Island is enormous and a little like Jurassic Park. Twenty-five luxurious mansions dot the island and you're buzzing around on electrical gulf pushchairs or, if you want to go to more secluded parts of the island, in deep blacks.
They are all similar in terms of style and the differences lie in their position on the island, whether by the ocean or high above. They all have giant double rooms and lounges, interior and exterior baths, en-suite swimming pool and all kinds of furnishings such as music system, fully equipped refrigerators (everything is included) and bath furnishings that have been made on the island.
Beside the major mansions there are three special mansions, the Peninsula, a surface residency and Hilltop, which is the owners personal residency and is laughably luxuriously and giganto! Regarding activity on the island, most on the waters where there is boating, snorkeling, waterskiing, kayak, snorkeling, sailing and angling - all the equipment is first class and new.
We also have all kinds of vessels, even sailboats and, surprisingly, one of the sailboats that apparently won the Olympic Games in Beijing. Food is taken seriously and there are four major food outlets that offer everything from delicious food to snack bars and everything in between, up to a delicious barbecue of tea-anyaki! Whereever possible the island itself, with all the meats included, has a fully functional farmyard with beef, pork and even Austro hens (which seem to be more delicious!).
From here you can reach the places of the Somosomo road with ease, as the ships are so powerful, but the locals are just as impressing. The majority of the dives are whale dives with unbelievably sound corals and exzellenten sea creatures; if you go with the tide, you can find all possible large things like hammerheads, riff shark andantas.
You also have your own hard corals diving to compete with those of the Somosomo Strait, and many of the diving is within 20 minutes of boating from the island. The whole outfit is new and in good shape and you have an envyable choice of vessels. All in all, this is truly an astonishing place and without a doubt one of the highest value resort in the game.
It' s difficult to know where to start when you talk about the Laucala Island Resort in Fiji.
