Lanai vs Maui
Maui versus LanaiAt Lanai we wanted to remain in Manele Bay. When we go to Maui, we would definitely make the snorkelling excursions to Lanai and Molokai. I would choose to move to another country to celebrate the journey. In Maui there are many places where you could spend the night, which would take you away from the overcrowded areas, and daily excursions to Molokai (which I loved!) or Lanai would certainly offer you a relaxing place to spend the night and keep you out of the crowd.
This big isle is awesome too......for me this is a'don't miss'. I' ve been investigating Kauai lately, since we're going there in February (I've been there before)........if you like to hike and explore, Kauai is definitely the place for you, but since you're not coming back for a while, I'd be willing to use the other islets as well, while you can....each islet is very special and you seem to have the times and the ressources to do so much on this itinerary.
C heck the seek feature here....there are many great threads across the isles, and I'm sure others (=locals) will toll in. I' m sure you' re going to have a wonderful journey! The Kauai for 5 days is good..... but Lanai in conjunction with Kauai can be just too euthanizing. Maui' s way too full.
Big Iceland is marvellous - no big crowd, but a lot to do; great snorkelling, volcanos, waterfalls, great rides - we used to love the Fairmont Orchid, but we also listen to great things about the 4 SSNS. Flyer, thanks for the great feed-back. Do you have any proposals for a beautiful place that would be more "away" from everything in Maui?
Do you have any proposals for a beautiful place that would be more "away" from everything in Maui? Now if you are planning to snorkel around Lana'i and Moloka'i, it is best to remain in the area around Ka'anapali (you will find great accommodation there), which is close to the sea transport that can bring you mainly to the town.
Attempt to do a quest on Kaanapali (also known as KÄâanapali) to wind up a fairly new thread on good hoteliers proposals on the west part of Maui. Are you trying to do a quest on Kaanapali (aka K? âanapali) to wind up a fairly new thread on good hotels proposals on the west part of Maui. But it'?s definitely not'quiet' anymore..... but it'?s definitely not calm anymore...... Maui prince in Makena (south of Wailea) is probably considered calm and far away from everything.
It is a fairly sound four-star hotel - look for rebates on the rooms. But it'?s definitely not'quiet' anymore..... Now, when you have to drive almost daily through downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, the perceptions of "calm" are distorted. IMHO, I still think Kapalua and Ka'anapali are a lot of silence for me (in terms of calm Maui) and would be best for snorkelling (agree Wailea is quite far from silence).
When you really want to be lonely, Lana'i and the big island are probably your best choice. Choose - DFW or GRR (Grand Rapids, MI). Choose from DFW or GRR (Grand Rapids, MI). Now, when you have to drive almost daily through downtown Honolulu and Waikiki, the perceptions of "calm" are distorted.
I' ve been told it's the best snorkeling on Maui (which, apart from Anihi (sp?), doesn't say much in comparison to Big Iceland or Lanai.... but they say it's beautiful & right on the shore - ? Returning to the issue of the operation, yes, I would stop a 10-day journey to Kaua`i and insert another isle.
As this is a "unique" journey, my own view is that the Big Island would be a beautiful contrast to Kaua`i. Really enjoying Lanai. Hotel Lanai (VERY Old Schule hawaii Inn, sweet, very friendly personnel, but by no means high end).
Marele Bay was kind, but if I went back, I'd be staying at the lodge in Kohele. It is VERY calm and relaxed and if I made the last journey to the islands again (we did Lanai first, then the big island), I would do it the other way round so that I could have a few calm rest periods before going back to the contin.
