Koloa Old Town

The historical and scenic Koloa quarter stretches from the old town of Koloa to the wonderful southern shore of Kauai in Poipu. In 1835 Koloa opened its first factory, setting a benchmark for the island's industrial output of beet. Today, the Hawaiian multi-cultural community is made up of a large number of migrants.

It is a section of the Maluhia Road bordered by gum tree species that were first established a hundred years ago. A tree-tunnel still flourishes today and receives the visitor. The old town of Koloa has preserved much of its charms, with stores that can now be found in the plantations along Koloa Road.

Visit the Koloa History Center every single weekday from 9:00 to 21:00 to find out more about the city's precious cuisine. Refrigerate in the shadow of the large ape pods with a Lappert icicle. Lappert's Lappert's Ice Crème Store is a Kauai originality and is still freshly made in Hanapepe every two years.

This is a contemporary alternative to the charm of the old town of Koloa.

Sugarcane came to Hawaii by old Polynesians in their migrations from the South Pacific. Hawaii's industrialized sugar plant was first founded in the city of Koloa in 1835. It was harvested for the first year in 1837 and the history of vintage cars shows that rums began to be made at this age.

Much Aloha, purest rain water and a lot of organic rum come together to create rum with a remarkable taste and suppleness that captures the heart of the garden isle. This is the first and only certified still on the Kauai Islands, where producing sucrose canned food is a custom.

We had our first production of premium Hawaiian rum in September 2009, which was coincident with the opening of our tasting room and company store at Kilohana Plantation in Lihue.
