some of the Oahu islets. What are the Oahu isles? Hawaiians can wonder about the many and interesting looking small island off Oahu. Several of these small islets are of singular forms and correspondingly named, making them even more catchy. People may think that this island is nicknamed' rabbit island' because its form looks like a rabbit's mouth.
However, people used to call it that because the island was once populated by bunnies. Manana is the real name of the island, which means snappy in Hawaiian. In the 1880s John Adams Kuakini Cummins tried to bring up bunnies on the island. Like one would have expected of a rabbit, they reproduced so strongly that they endangered the island's fragility.
In 1994 the rabbit were wiped off the island entirely. Today the island is a nature reserve for seabirds. There' s a low-lying island next to Rabbit Island, Kaohikaipu or Black Rock. Coconut Island or Moku or Lo?e in Hawaiian is located in Kaneohe Bay.
It can actually be seen in the opening recordings of the long-running TV show Gilligan's Island. US Marine Island used the island for a number of different reasons.
