Is Molokai Worth Visiting
Molokai is worth a visit?to Lanai or Molokai? - Baja News Board
to Lanai or Molokai? Lana'i is much more "feasible" for a daily excursion than Moloka'i. From Lahaina there are organised snorkelling trips to Lana'i for one night, an isle cruise and a barbecue........ Or you can take the Lahaina-Lana'i boat if you only want to go to the beautiful sandy beaches and/or hire a private vehicle or coach to discover the area.
Moloka'i is reachable by boat Lahaina-Moloka'i (somehow long, only gives you about 4 hrs to get around the isle and a rather rough return --- not really enough time). But as I said, Kalaupapa is an outing, or just take a drive to Kaluakoi on the western side of the isle, or eastwards into the Halawa valley.
In both cases you don't get the feeling of Moloka'i, even if you decide for a "tour". You' really have to stay a few nights on Moloka'i to "get" it.
Later or Molokai -- worth a full outing?
Later or Molokai -- worth a full outing? In Maui in November we are considering a full excursion to Lanai or Molokai. An excursion to Calaupapa - the leprosy settlement on Molokai - is a very interesting one. After flying in we spent a few nights there because we knew a local - you can also do a horseback riding on a horn.
Afterwards we spent some time on Molokai - and also - with the boat from Lahina to Lanai. This is a nice journey and the experiencing of the "old Hawaii". If I were, I'd take the first one ('6:45) and then the last one to come back - 6:00 or so - for a great night on Lanai.
She has very good snorkelling and very good gulf. On the Molokai - we went out to the Ostend - and walked to a lovely cascade. Thome-- of course you'd take the first boat, you never go to bed!
