Wellington Auckland RT 2018

There was a wide range of activity and sight seeing on this itinerary. Although it rained for 2 whole day and we could not go on the Tongariro crossing due to strong wind and bad general climate, our travel leader was occupied with alternate adventures. With 24 persons on the boat, a cross-section of all age groups, this trip was packed and everyone got along very well.

Some of us would have preferred 2 or 3 choices for what to do on arrival in Wellington. All we had was the WETA trip, which was interesting but perhaps of great interest to Lord of the Rings supporters. I would suggest that in between WETA, the Te Papa museums, a walking stroll through Wellington or a visit to the lakeside promenade with all its pubs and eateries could offer further possibilities.

Because you' re planning a trip to Wellington, two whole nights in Auckland will do. Auckland, and on to Paihia. 16th of day - Auckland. There' s a lot of story in Nordland-Far-North, so I put this area on a route. The subtropical north also has some other characteristics than the smaller Coromandel area.

And if you don't travel to the north, you can linger longer in other places like Rotorua. On the second half of the week, consider leaving for Northland. From Wellington to Auckland along the West Coast - Please make a suggestion - North Island Forum

From Wellington we had originally intended to go to Auckland along the Eastern Cape, but after having read a few articles on TA that it would be better to go southwards along this road rather than north, we are now considering going up the West Coast instead and saving the East for the next one.

Enjoy the beautiful countryside, walks, kayak, countryside, local geography and travel by road for 12 nights in mid-March. Just to spend one single working holiday in Wellington as we have done before & to finish with 3 in Auckland. There are 8 working days to discover the coastline. I' d suggest the western shore for your trip north.

Travelling via Wanganui and New Plymouth, you make a stopover at Waitomo on the way to Auckland. There' gonna be a lot of eight nights. When you have free times, you can drive up the west coastline north of Auckland if you have not yet spent your free hours in this part of our beautiful state. Considering your interests, you might be better off adhering to your initial plans to circumnavigate the Eastern Cape, even if it goes from north to south. Your interests are not the same as yours.

So if you choose to drive up the western side, you could essentially take the coastal highway to New Plymouth and then take the SH3 via Mokau to Te Kuiti. Equipped myself with the Atlas to design a possible course, I will also research the web.

Calicolodge, in June we drove north of Auckland, along the east coast and up to Cape Reinga. At a later date we want to drive up the west coast. We' re covering one small area after another, so we have a good excuse to come back and do more!
