Huahine Society Islands
Huaheine Society IslandsHuahine, Society Islands - | Paul Gauguin Kreuzfahrten
From Maroe Village on the small isle of Huahine Iti, take the "Le Truck", the renowned French Polynesian public transport service, over the viaduct to Huahine Nui. You will pass luxuriant verdant gorges and the blue Laguna through the capitol Fare, where Captain James Cook stayed during his visit to the Isle.
Its first stop is the hamlet of Meeva, one of the most important archeological areas in Polynesia and the biggest prehistoric settlement in Polynesia. On your stroll through the town you will discover the archeological site on the lakeshore and the Fare Pote'e Museum. You' ll get to know the origin and migration of Polynesia, society, tradition, religion, flora, Europeans and get a first-hand insight into various instruments, crafts and artefacts.
On to Mata'ire'a, directly above the village of Maeva with more than 200 stonebuilt buildings, among them marshland, farmhouses, farmhouses, basements, fortifications and tomb plattforms. The next stop via "Le Truck" is a locally run walnut orchard where you can buy various types of walnut and cherry blancmange.
We continue to the 500-year-old fishing boobyards, which are now used again by the inhabitants of Maeva Town. On your way back to the harbour, you will pass through the town of Faie, where your tour leader will take you to the huge blue-eyed eel feeding the huge river eel of the islands before you make a stop at the Belvedere viewpoint for a scenic view of Huahine Iti and the magnificent Maroe Bay.
You will have the possibility to buy genuine Tahitianilla.
Hua Hine vs. Moorea - Hua Hine News Board
This will be our first FP event and my woman and I will start at it. Favourite places so far are St. John USVI and Belize. We are also planing to stay on Tikehau. It' difficult for me to choose Huahine or Moorea. I' d be voting for Moorea for my first PF appointment.
The two islands are certainly deserving a visit. They are both outstanding, but it would be a pity to miss Florence as a first-time customer. There' s no "nightlife" or "shopping" on one of the islands (I think that's a good thing) - only beautiful and relaxing.
You have a long distance relationship with Tikehau, and I think Moorea will be a pleasant diversion. They would not be dissapointed by Huahine (we used to love it), but there are many more possibilities on Moorea for activities/sightseeing. I' ve been to St. John and I' ll be in Moorea this year.
I' m in loving St. John, but I've never been to Belize. I am pleased to give you my thoughts on Moorea and Huahine. Hua Hine is the real Tahiti. Here you will find most of the archaeological site of the Society Islands, pristine sandy shores, many small towns with welcoming natives, genuine cultural heritage, beautiful views and just one large residence, Te Tiare.
HUHAINE will also be offering a beautiful 4X4 route. The Moorea is an evolved isle. It is an unbelievably scenic isle. Much to see and do on the sea, great sands, touring of all kind and simple entrance with the Fähre from the big Tahiti isle directly over the cove.
They are both beautiful places with a special charme. Hopefully this will help some! Solar greetings, I concur with Mr. and Mrs. Shully that we are starting our boat trip from Huahine and this is definitely the true FP! Our first stage of our cruising was around the islands and it had the WoW effect of taking us to the former location of a Hyatt resort (if I recall well), now unexploited countryside everywhere, rainforest everywhere and beautiful beaches.
My wife's interest in Moorea is the mixture of lagoons and mountains with good snorkelling and walking. I' m sure both islands have great snorkelling, but does Huahine have some good walks with beautiful views and/or canals? It pleases me that the place on Huahine is smaller than Moorea.
In September we made our first journey to FP and went to Moorea and Huahine. While we would not return to Bora Bora, we would definitely return to Moorea and Huahine. The Huahine was definitely less evolved - it has a smaller populace and some interesting "temples" and historical places.
