Do not use American, Delta & United mileage. Whilst more than ever before, the vast majority of us are still focusing on the old companies that are now fused into just three airlines: American, Delta and United. On Hawaii, United operates only 45,000 return and 45,000 return fares in the U.S. Continental, Alaska and Canada in the first or the second.
And an additional 7,000 points for all inter-island travel with airlines, if any. American requires the same 45,000 mile rate for AAdvantage Industry and 80,000 mile rate for First in AAdvantage sAAver. Unfortunately Delta no longer provides an awards graph (i.e. the mileage you need is unpredictable), but the best fares you can get with SkyMiles are similar to American and United.
One better way to collect points for a journey to Hawaii are by using Hawaii's most popular loyalty programmes, which provide points that are transferred 1:1 per mile. You can use this policy to translate awards into loyalty programmes with carriers offering the best fares.
