At the beginning of this monthly the state of Hawaii got into a short, albeit frightening existential anxiety, when its Emergency Management Agency sent a bulk SMS alert of an impending "BALLISTIC THREAT MISSILE" after an associate had pushed the incorrect buttom. A lot of people fought immediately to get coverage for what they thought was an incoming atomic rocket from North Korea.

Nor did the state differ in that it sent correction by taking most of an hours to transmit another bulk text that confirmed that no such rocket did exist. Altough older state officials were immediately alarmed of the error, it took 17 mins for Gov. David Ige to broadcast his own tire explaining and calming it.

The Honolulu Star advertiser says that this is partly due to the fact that he coordinated with rescue officers and partly has forgotten his Tweeters account number. Yes, that's right, since the Hawaiians were waiting for possible destruction, Ige fumbled around and tried to login to Twitter: It' good to know that we are all really ready for a nuke fight.

Like the New York Times says, while the officers are in general consensus, the hoax was not acceptable, they say that changes are in progress to avoid any possible repetition - which is good, because depending on Twitter to assure the population that they are not going to meet Armageddon doesn't seem to have gone particularly well.
