Guam, which has no traditional fossil fuel sources, depends on oil based oil truck shipments and on renewable sources of renewable energies such as renewable energies. Guam's consumption of electric current is rising, and the island's only utilities will exceed 50,000 for the first year in 2016. One-fifth of the Guam Powers Authority's total Guam U.S. electrical turnover.

6 -megawatt plant in Dandan, was finished in October 2015, and the US Navy signed an agreement in mid-2017 to rent locations where 40 MW of extra electricity will be used. Net-metrating is now possible in Guam, and more and more clients are fitting PV modules. At the beginning of 2016, almost 9 MW of divided PV electricity was on the Guam network.

In order to cover its power needs, Guam is importing oil based oil based commodities and using its windpower and photovoltaic assets to produce power. The Guam government has made it its target to reduce oil use by 20% by 2020 compared to 2010. The Guam Power Authority's customer base surpassed 50,000 for the first year in 2016.

In 2015, two of the four blocks of the Guam nuclear reactor were damaged by an eruption and fire.
