Maps Samoa ApiaSamoa 5 day sample program
Welcome to Samoa, not only one of the most interesting places in the tropics you will ever see, but also one of the most attractive. While I was traveling across the South Pacific Islands in my backpack, I stayed in Samoa for almost a whole year. Here is a 5-day tour through Samoa, which concentrates entirely on the island of Upolu.
But before we start, since you only spend 5 nights in Samoa, it is recommended to rent a vehicle from the second morning. AA Rental will return the vehicle to your Apia Hotels for a price beginning at 1 120 per night (discounts for long term rental are possible). They can use a coach to explore Samoa, but it will be hard to see everything that is said in this example program within the given timeframe.
Please also take into account the admission charge at almost every stop, a common event in Samoa, as most of the country is traditionally in the possession of villi. Finally, breakfasts and dinners are almost always inclusive when you stay on the beaches. Going to see Samoa? Begin your journey with the Samoa Travel Guide, full of important travel planner advice and detailed information on all the features listed in this example program.
To open the picture in Google Maps, click on it: The B&B provides neat and air-conditioned rooms, a deliciously delicious meal and it really makes you feel at home. Begin your first days in Samoa down by the water at the Fishmarket. At the Fishmarket you go to the catholic cathedral of Mulivai via the Clocktower at the foot of Vaiea Street (also known as World War II Memorial).
At 9am every day of the week, a buzzer signalizes the beginning of the Samoa Police Band flagshipment. Pridefully marching from the head office to the grass-covered fields behind the watch turret, they wear lava lavalavas and show great patriotism towards their loved Samoa. If, by chance, you are in Apia on a Sunday, I suggest that you join the Sunday Mass, whether you are a religious person or not.
Clothes, song and a powerful spirit of communion are a Samoa gift that you can take with you forever. If you live in the same area, you should visit the Samoa Cultural Village for a free 10:30am trip. Samoans, as genuine as they come, lead the two-hour visit to the town, with men peping up women's hairstyles with the help of conventional tats and ibiscus.
On the way you will find out more about Fa'a Samoa - the Samoan way. It is this tradition of conduct and the Samoan community's basic fabric. This information and interaction based trip will put the remainder of your Samoa trip into the right perspective. The lunch is inclusive and you can buy Samoan artwork directly from the artist at reasonable prices.
A stroll from the culture town to the Samoa Central Square - the Maketi Fou. If you are still a little bit starving, you can buy finished to eating tartar, bread fruit and pallets and really act like a native. This is the ideal moment to visit Apia's third fair - the fleamarket.
The roofed square is the best place to buy Saami memorabilia, Sarong and insular fashion. Cross the street in the direction of the main train terminal. Buses in Samoa are an absolute must and a great way to not only get from A to A but also to explore another level of Samoa cultur.
The buses are completely tuned up, always with musical blasts, and when you drive one of these buses, you become testimony to the singular seat arrangement, which shows how well the Samoans get along with each other. You can also take a stroll along Beach Rd to enjoy a breathtaking view of Apia. Finally, the route will take you to Palolo Deep Marine Reserve, where you will find the best snorkelling in Samoa.
Anyway, on the street you will also find the Seafood Gourmet Bar & Grill and Cocktails On The Rocks, great opportunities for dinners and beverages. Visit your Apia hotelier and take a short tour of the islands. In Upolu you will visit the swimming pool and waterfall before arriving directly at the seaside.
From Apia take Main East Coastline to Piula Cave Pool (entrance T5). It actually follows the northern coastline of the isle, so the name is a little bewildering, I must say. Then the coastline turns into Richardson Rd, which finally leads to Le Mafa Pass.
The picturesque street leads through the mountain and provides spectacular vistas of a luxuriant vale that encounters the deep sea. At a clear sunny weather it is the "classic" sight of a tropic archipelago that you had in your head when you booked your journey to Samoa. Follow the Le Mafa pass to the Fuipisia waterfall (entrance T7).
Leave your vehicle and follow the path that finally climbs to the top of this 55 metre high falls. Further down is my favourite Samoa cascade - the Sopoaga Falls (entrance T10). Stealthily rising out of the jungles, the cascading waterfalls cascade from one basin to the other before it feeds the city.
Situated at the eastern bifurcation on the southern shore to To-Sua Ocean Trench (entrance T20). The face of Samoa is this naturally occurring bathing water in Samoa tourist leaflets and list of places to go before you perish (so here's your chance). After a short dip, return to the top and go down the trail to the tidal basins.
It is a fast ride back to Lalomanu Bay, where you can either board the backpacker-friendly Taufua Strand Fales or the more upscale Litia Sini's Strand Fales. Beautifully situated directly on the shore, these enchanting cabins include breakfasts and dinners - a great deal.
The Lalomanu Beach is very much loved by the Samoan people. Taufua Beach Fales organizes a Polish dancing and fire show on Wednesday and Saturday, which one should not miss (donations are expected).
