No two Guam alerts go off in test

The 15 All Hazards Alert Warning System was put to the test on Monday afternoons and two in the southern hemisphere were not in use. According to a report from Guam Homeland, two of the alarms in the Ija Agricutlral Station, Inarajan and Ft. Soledad, Umatac were not in use.

This planned three-month test was conducted in connection with the U.S. Naval Base Guam's and Andersen Air Force Base's regular tests for the important communications and early alert system known as "Giant Voice". "The test provided the useful evaluation for both sites and showed which parts are needed for both.

In the press report, the company is working with the seller to solve the problems with the two Siren, in order to be fully functional again. Survey: Did you listen to the test of the All Hazards Alert Alarming System on Monday? The system issued a message in Tumon saying: "This is a test of the alarm system.

For the test, the sound Monday was specifically sounded, said Jenna Blas, spokesperson for Guam Homeland Security/Office of Civil Defense. Special sounds for special dangers are worked by locals and army officers, she said. These sounds are intended to warn the inhabitants of dangers such as tsunami or rocket attacks.

She says there are six sounds for the siren, but the sounds are not yet associated with any particular dangers. Currently 15 siren have been constructed to warn of tsunami and are located near the coast. A number of people in the north of Guam said in the newspapers that they had not heard the bells.

All Hazards Alert Warning System siren models and sizes have the ability to be listened to with a 4,800 foot radio range, latest file state. Calvo government last months announces that Guam will get 31 new Siren. Due to North Korea's recent threat, Guam has the need to speed up the deployment of the 31 extra alarms, especially in areas outside the coast that already have alarms, Guam Homeland said.

In a recent newscast, Charles Esteves, Office of Civil Defense Trustee, said that the quarterly Tests help characterize intervals and deficits with present skills. The system is only one element in the crisis alert system and the agencies will work with national, governmental and civil service to enhance it.

Upcoming siren testing will be carried out every quarter. Giant Voice testing is performed every Monday of the following months - usually on the first Monday of each other. Officers regard the siren as a means of communicating and have recourse to several types of communications to receive distress alerts.

Civil servants would also use: the disaster alert system, by TV and wireless; text message distress warnings by domestic and telecommunication enterprises; bulk alert e-mail; and by first-aiders, a first-aid states.
