The Four Peaks (Yavapai: Wi:khoba) is a striking symbol of the Phoenix city' easterly skin. It is part of the Mazatzal Mountains and lies in the wilderness of the Four Peaks at the Tonto National Forest, 40 leagues (64 km) eastward and northwest of Phoenix. Four Peaks is a large part of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area in winters, overlooking snow-capped peaks.
The Four Peaks is the site of an high quality mercury mine producing high quality mercury amethysts. Four Peaks refers to the four different peaks of a north-south crest that forms the top of the mountain range. Brown'speak, the most northerly of the peaks, and at 7,659 ft (2,334 m) is the highest point in Maricopa County.
