Fiji Shark DiveFiji- shark dive
The Shark Reef Marine Reserve was established on the edge of the Beqa lagoon to investigate the local shark populations and thus support the long-term preservation of the world' s shark populations. Here, in the Shark Reef Marine Reserve, the Shark Dive is taking place. Now, add up to 8 different shark types to the mix: bulls, tigers, sicklefin lemons, silvertips, grey reefs, whitetip reefs, blacktip reefs and tawny nurses.
The Shark Dive, a shark lover's paradise. First shark dive will take place on a edge of the coral cliff next to the fall off into the Beqa Passage chasm. This is where the feeder brings the major draw, the bull sharks, at a 30m-deep. It' about 17 min. later in "The Arena" it is part 2 of the Shark Dive.
Above in "The Den" you can find the smaller shark types Whitetip Reefs and Blacktip Reefs, which feel perfectly comfortable with the getting-on. Photography and videos are available during the 45 minute shark dive. Because of the hour-long intervals between the individual shark dives, there is a lot of space to exchange the cameras and to unwind.
A second shark dive will take place half way down the riff at 16m, where most of the food will take place. The Tawny Nurses are often the first types to eat before they give way to the bulls. Silver tips, sicklefin lemons and grey reefs come in to eat when the bulls allow it, but when one of the tigers shows up, even the bulls give in.
The shark dive ends with a ground hut of about 35 min. and everyone sets off for a security stop before boarding the jet. Go to the dive store and have your logbooks stolen, watch the Shark Dive DVDs or make your way to the next room for a quick meal at the Lagoon Resort.
