Fiji Locally-Managed Marine Area Network (FLMMA) is internationally renowned for its expertise in municipal coastal resource management. Fiji's farmers are planting for a changed climate after the devastating cyclone. Fiji's small marine reserves provide shelter for reef fish assemblages, feeding groups and coral.

The creation of no-take naval sheltered areas (MPAs) on hard corals is a joint conservation policy to conserve the variety, affluence and bio-mass of aquatic life. In general, well-managed and forced rejuvenated pelagic parasites can enhance or preserve the variety and functionality of the closed core with some of the advantages extended to neighbouring unprotected areas.
