English Isle

Isle of England

Have a look what the staff say about working at English Isle. It is divided by a central island that served to divide the church into men and women, but now there is no more evidence of this division. We are expanding our teacher database, so we can now offer host family teachers on the Isle of Wight an attractive and interesting place off the English coast. Isle of Man (Manx: Ellan Vannin) is an island in the Irish Sea off the coast of Great Britain (of which it is a crown dependency). To use isle in a sentence.

Welcome to the International Society for English Linguistics

ISLE's main goal is to support the studies of the English language, i.e. the studies of the structures and histories of English standards and non-standards in shape and functions on an inter-national scale. Our goal is to make the company a geographic and theoretical one-stop shop for all those who are scientifically engaged and identified with this goal.

While there are (and we are hoping to keep in touch with) country-specific "Anglist" or "English Language and Literature" organisations and country-specific "Linguistics" organisations, ISLE is the first truly international federation to fulfil this part. ISLE members are welcome to announce on our website any conference, workshop, symposium etc. according to the objectives of ISLE.

British Isles Map

British Isles are situated off the northwest coastline of the European mainland overlooking the Celtic Sea, the Irish Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Channel divides the UK from the remainder of Europe. Two of the great British Isles are Great Britain with England, Scotland and Wales and Ireland with Northern Ireland and its own land, Ireland.

England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland form the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Guernsey's bailiwick and the Isle of Man are dependent on the crown of Britain. Isle of Man is situated between the two large Isles of Great Britain and Ireland in the centre of the Irish Sea.

Jersey is governed by the Duke of Normandy, the United Kingdom's governing royal. The Orkney Archipelago also includes the Orkney Isles off the north-west Scottish coastline and the Hebrides, off the western Scottish coastline. Isle of Man Parlament, the Tynwald, claimed to be the oldest permanently governing organ in the arsenal.

Both the Isle of Jersey and the Isle of Guernsey were invaded by the Hitler army during the Second World War.
