Sightseeing in the village of Rapa Nui

In 887 Moaiâs, most of them are decayed, but a good number are standing in a row on a ceramic earth hill surrounded by rocks (the hill is known as âAhuâ). Some places on the island where you can see âAhuâsâ with Moai are the most prestigious viewpoints:

Moai were cut from a stone pit in Rano Raraku. It is completely vulcanic, but there are two water-filled volcano crater worth a trip. Can be seen from different angles. You will find many of the island's ancient vulcanic caverns where Rapa Nui once resided, as well as the renovated Orongo remains from where the Vogelmann contest was watched.

Horseback rides are easy to organise and a great way to move, enjoy the view and discover the island. from 5 to 5. 5 hrs (half day). 4-5 hour stroll. Drive from Explorer Rapida Nui to Te Peu by van (15 min). Hike along a path that adjoins cliffy hills and provides stunning vistas.

Take the bus back to explore the town of Rafa Nui (20 min). Length: 2 to 3 hrs (half day). 1.5 to 2.5 hrs on foot. Drive from explore Rapida Nui to Te Peu by bus (15 min). From 3 to 3. 5 hrs (half day). Hiking 2. 5 to 3. 5 h. Drive from explore Rapida Nui to Hanga Tetenga by van (15 min). Stroll along Ara O Te Moy, the path that once served to carry the Moay statues; see many fallen Moay along the path. Ascent to Rano Raraku, the moon pit, overlooking the craters.

Hike along the volcano's rim and reach the one makihi caves. Take the bus back to explore the town of Rafa Nui (20 min). From 4 to 4. 5 hrs (half day). 3 to 4 hour stroll. Drive from explore Rapida Nui to Piko Mahore by bus (30 min). Hike along a 300 m high path bordering a precipitous bluff and past Maunga Parehe and Maunga Tee.

Rock the Puka Katike and then go down to Tongariki to see 15 Muai. Take the bus back to explore the town of Rafa Nui (25 min). Length: 2 to 3 hrs (half day). 2 to 3 hour stroll. Drive from explore Rapida Nui to Vinapu by bus (5 min). Hike along a path bordering cliffy terrain (250 m) to the rim of the Rano Kau craters.
