D Urville Island Wilderness Resort
Wilderness Resort Urville IslandD'Urville Island Wilderness Resort Report
Catherine Cove is an isolated resort offering a truly isolated two-room seaside resort, a kiwi-style vacation home and a dormitory with views of the protected Catherine Cove area. A 30-minute cruise over the Frenchside Pass (a sea taxicab will pick you up from the Frenchside port), the resort is a wilderness spot for walking, snorkelling and cycling, or just to watch the sunrise and migrating killer cetaceans.
You can also go angling and go on excursions by water, or you can simply take a free tender with you.
Fishing Wellington Charters
These are some recent images from some of our audio journeys. Marlborough Sounds tours are very much appreciated, so we spent a great deal of our free day in and around Queen Charlotte Sounds and d'Urville Island and live at the breathtaking Furneaux Lodge in Endeavour Inlet. D'Urville Island Tours are an unbelievable experience as it is an unparalleled wilderness paradise.

Adventure on the Urville Island
When we were surprised the other night when we began our walk in Okiwi Bay, it was nothing like what we are waking up today! New Zealand's air-impaired bird walk like mad outside our hut here on d'Urville Island.
As Laura is half asleep and half at work, Robin chooses to go on an early-morning walk to follow the sound of the bird and find a cascade that has seduced him since we got here on the water. He says that there is a great walk behind the d'Urville Island Wilderness Resort that takes us to the island's view, but if we choose not to be able to stay, he offers an outing.
If you take an "unofficial" trip on the island of Urville, Ash will bring out a jeep that stands on its last feet. Windshield is broken, exterior rear-view is missing, the top has a cutout to allow stags to get away.... All in all, this jeep would not get through a WOF (Warrant of Fitness).
Who needs WOs on Urville Island?! You can see one side of the island d'Urville, which then stretches behind you. The South Island is visible and on a cleaner today than today we could have seen Wellington on the North Island. Also the landscape on the way back is quite extraordinary, if one looks from the heights at the wilderness area.
Robin comes out of the jeep back in the resort relieved. Ash picks up the fishermen' s boats after a meal of shellfish and crisps in the warm rays of the summer outing. No, we don't want to go! We will stop on a small island between d'Urville Island and French Pass on the South Island before we throw and name.
And Ash wants to show us something before we get off the French Pass ferry. Between the South Island and the island of d'Urville there is a seabed that pushes itself into a small space. We' ve had so many new and wacky experience with the d'Urville Island d'Urville Island crew in just one of them.
Now all we have to do is take the nice pass with Virginia. We stare at the fantastic view we had so often at sunset last night.
