Cruises Starting in ukFerries from Great Britain
Unique adventure starting on the coast of Britain
Just shut your eye and think of an experience that begins on your own front door. This and more are part of the wealth of choices if you want to begin your trip from the UK this year. Southampton is the UK's busy harbour with more than 400 departures per year and four major ports.
Voyages and Fred Olsen Voyages are particularly powerful on local sailings. Major harbours this year are Dundee, Hull, Bristol and London Tilbury as well as Rosyth, Newcastle, Dover and Liverpool. The British Tour is a swimming promotion of the best that Britain and Ireland have to show.
From Tower Bridge in London, some of the most beautiful sights appear on a July voyage to antiquity from the Queen Mother's much-loved Castle of Mey to Hadrian's Wall, Britain's best-preserved ancient city. Silversea's Silver Wind will sail off Tower Bridge on 1 August on a UK round trip highlighting a gourmet Dublin and Shetland Seabird and Seal Boating trip.
However, not only locks and cup of coffee are round trips. The Princess Cruises has made it easy to enjoy the best nightlife: Royal Princess offers overnight accommodation in Belfast and overnight accommodation in Dublin, Glasgow and Edinburgh this year. However, the Majestic Line has a restricted uptime for 2018: if you want to travel on your small cruisers, make sure you are planning ahead.
This long journey around the Iberian Peninsula means that the cruises are accompanied by one or two relaxing maritime holidays. The two-weeks vineyards and vistas of the company will start in Dover on 29 July and visit Guernsey, Bordeaux, Porto, Lisbon, Barcelona and Cassis. Monte Carlo terminus offers a possibility of cruising and staying on the French Riviera.
Recently renovated, Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas returned to Southampton last week-end for a Mediterranean ski run full of people. Three departures from Southampton in Indian Ocean in Southampton, covering the Azores and the Canary Islands, are included in this tour. To the north there are numerous cruises to the fiords of Norway, Greenland and Iceland.
Peak summers from the end of June to the beginning of August, when the sundown in these areas is almost non-existent. On her first trip to Europe, Princess Cruises' Sapphire Princess takes three cruises to the fiords, one of them during the longest sunny midsummer. They can be used as trial cruises if you have never previously navigated and want to live onboard.
The Norwegian Jade goes on a two-day trip to Hamburg on 29 June. Departure on a Friday evening and arrival in Hamburg on Sunday mornings, it is an easier way to plan a trip on a week-end. A visit to St. Petersburg during a trip is worthwhile, as the tour operators organize group visa for those on the boat.
Fred Olsen's Boudicca, starting from Dover on 30 June, will spend the night in St. Petersburg. MSC Cruises' Magnifica is a good choice for the family, offering a range of ex-UK cruises from Southampton, with phone bookings in France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Germany and Norway. Norwegian Cruise Line's 16-day journey from Southampton aboard the Norwegian Jade Loop around the Shetlands, Iceland, Atlantic Canada, Maine and New York before ending in Miami.
