Cool places to go in Oahu
Fun places in Oahu15 top photo locations in Oahu, Hawaii (chosen by locals!)
Even though this card shows many great places on the south-eastern part of the isle, I strongly suggest to stay on the north coast, where it is much less touristic and has much less people. I' ve got a dozen answers from Hawaiians to expand my own understanding of the area, as I lived there and recently returned for a photographic adventures.
We have developed the ULTIMATE tools for organizing a photographic tour to Oahu since the publication of this work. It is a free iPhone and iPad application with THOUSANDs best photographic sites in the worlds in one application, and Hawaii is particularly well catered for. It' very practical for photographers, as you can simply guess "Spots near me" and BOOM!
Oahu's northern shore (only 1 hr from Waikiki) is home to a sandy spot of lush seaweed that the tortoises like. Some afternoons, up to 20 tortoises often sunbathe in the sandy and shallow waters.
Turtle beaches, as they are called today, are home to tortoises all year round. As well as firing tortoises at this sandy spot, you should also use the shiny seaweed on the cliffs and the wonderful tree on the right side of the sundown!
There' s no turtle on the shore to tell you it's Laniakea Strand, but you won't miss it - the tortoises will give it away! Tortoises sometimes remain until sundown, but they are mostly there for the hot summer months, so they are not so often on the shore at noon. It was a picture I took on the shore of Laniakea.
The Sunset is the most perilous in Oahu - by far! While only the most powerful and skilled floaters should go into the ocean when the sea is up, if you are conscious of this caution, you should also know that it is an ideal place for the photograph. If you are a photographer, look for the viewpoints around this beautiful sandy spot, where you can take pictures of the sun rise when the sunlight strikes the cliffs below.
The Sunset Beaches are situated on the North Shore on Kamehameha Highway 59-104 in Haleiwa. The Hanuma is the best snorkelling spot in the world. First and foremost this is a place for under water pictures, but also the views from the top of the hills to the cove is breathtaking! After arriving and parking, let them see a brief 5-minute movie that warns you not to contact the tortoises, and then you can go down to the shore.
It is a small descent or you can take the little troll. It is open all year round and well photographed in all seasons. Sitting Caves is a place not even many natives know. There is practically no tourism print and it is a wonderful place for scenic photograph.
It is a point on a rock facing crunching outcrops. While it can be hard to take good scenery shots at a vantage point because there is nothing in the front that allows the image to be scaled or deepened, this is such a great picture that any professional would find it hard not to bring out a photograph from here for a beautiful panorama of the isle.
When I was a little kid, I thought I'd never seen anything so nice. It' one of my favourite places on the isle. We recommend a few hrs after dawn. This is the surfing capitol of the whole wide globe during the winters and provides great road-photographing.
It is an excellent place for architecture and scenery photographers. The place has beautiful architecture for photographing in well-kept backyards. Have a look at this site on Google Maps. Tantalus/Round Top is a fantastic place to take pictures of the whole town from a vantage point. Usually I don't think of overlooking because it's not possible to write with nothing in the spotlight, but this place makes the listing because of the opportunities it provides at nigh.
Usually I find that it is mainly beginners and advanced amateur and advanced floralists. Normally, professionals like other kinds of photographing because they generally have the feeling that all floral photographs look the same. The Galapagos shark. This is the picture I took on my North Shore Shark Adventuresive.
Great shaikäfig-adventure! For truly one-of-a-kind photography while in Hawaii, consider a Hawaiian sharkscap diving with North-Shore Shore Adventures or one of the many other firms on the Isle. They' ll take you on a small boating trip about a mile off the coast and give you a snake and put you in a wreck.
During my journey with North Shore Shoe Adventures I saw well over a decade of sharks during the 10 minute time I was in the cages. They are not agressive because North Shore has no friends. Later in the morning, the ocean becomes too high and the boat has to call off 40% of its trips because of the danger of large wave passengers entering the cages.
This is Laniakea Bay, and this is lanikai beaches. This is a popular place for locals to take pictures of the mornings. Lánikai is a great place for photographing because there are palms near the waters, the Mokulua Isles in the cove, and other wildlife characteristics that make a great deal of interest to photograph a seaside area.
It is also possible to hire a canoe and take it to the isles in the sea for a glimpse of unspoilt Hawaii. It is an ideal place for road photographing because it is a turning away from what most of us see every single workingday ( "unless we are living in Asia, of course!"). Hawaii's China City is located in the center of Honolulu.
The Kaena Point is a kilometre-long stretch of sand on the westernmost tip of the island of Oahu. One of the things that makes this place a great photo spot is the low tourism pressures and the wide view of the sea, which is bounded by a wonderful sandy coastline and the jagged Waianea Mountains.
And if you're fortunate, you can even take a look at the Hawaiian Monk Seal on the water! Adventure-packed wildlife enthusiasts who want to spend an afternoons off the shore and are ready to walk the most muddy section of the trails you have ever dreamed of are awarded with a view of a beautiful cascade in a luxuriant woodland by going to Maunawili Falls.
