The Cook Islands Holiday
Christian guide during your whole vacation plus daily devotions and church service times. Dinner, sightseeing and entertaining as shown in the Itineraries. From Sydney an early afternoon plane will take us to Rarotonga, where we arrive early in the mornings.
When we cross the International Date Line, we actually win one full working days and will be there on Saturday mornings. We reach Rarotonga this mornings, the biggest of the 15 islands of the Cook Islands. Next week's home will be Edgewater Resort, set in the middle of lush greenery and surrounded by a whitish sand shore with views of a gorgeous lake.
We' ll be checking into the hotel early and refreshing ourselves before a short meal and a delicious cuisine. We will do our own Circle Island Discovery Tours this afternoons where we will be enjoying snacks for noon. It is an ideal way of introducing the Cook Islands, providing information on the island's past and present and stopping off at intriguing historic and cultural places.
Arorangi is one of these places, the first of Rarotonga's mission villages, and here we can see the 1849 temple and the memorial to the island's first misionary, Papeiha. We will have our first days in this beautiful tropic haven and after that we will eat at the very famous Kikau Hut.
We will drive to the Punanga Nui Cultural Markets, the "Place to be" on a Saturday am. We have the chance to meet the local people, eat on the islands and listen to the funny ambience of the many booths, as well as listen to local bands and a life show.
You' re sure to find a beautiful gift with such diverse local produce and handicrafts - from handcrafted woodcarvings and hand-made beads, to lively aquilongs and the scented egg katu (flower garlands). The afternoons are at your disposal, soak up the stress at the seaside or walk on to Avarua, the island's capital (you can take the shuttle back if you wish - it departs from the resort's reception).
This evening we are celebrating with an Iceland Night Dinner (buffet) in our resorts. One of the high points of a trip to the Cook Islands today will be the Christian Church of Titicaveka Cook Islands, constructed in 1841 from hand-cut boulders of cork.
At the end of the worship we will meet the parishioners for our early dawn teas and have the opportunity to speak to the locals. You will have the free time in the afternoons before we meet for a barbeque meal in our resorts. We have a delicacy for you after breakfasts, as we sail with Koka Lagoon Cruise on the Muri Lagoon.
We' ll get on a bottom vessel and drive around this secluded lake to the inner part of the bay to observe the many different species of the sea (don't ignore your swimmer, your cap, your sun cream and your towel!) A lavish BBQ luncheon will be offered today with a lot of diver! You have this afternoons at your own time.
This evening we will have a dedicated Homestead Site party with the chance to interoperate with a community of cooks. We' ll stroll through the family's orchard, while our guide will explain the variety of uses of the area' native plants. Afterwards, we will have a tasty evening meal with the best regional produce with a hint of Asiatic atmosphere and Polish atmosphere - a truly one-of-a-kind event and a must for every gourmet.
This is for those travelers who reserve the option Aitutaki-Daytrip: Aitutaki: Anyone who visits the Cook Islands should visit the stunning island of Aitutaki, which is home to one of the most stunning natural beauty spots in the game. It is an entire full morning with an early departure, as we are collected around 7am and taken to the airfield to take our brief 45-minute plane to Aitutaki.
Be sure your cameras are there when we get close to the isle, because the views are just amazing; from the sky Aitutaki appears through the dawn clouds like an emeralds chain stretched out against a deep green lake - everything about the lake at this hour of the night seems surf.
Today mornings we will be visiting Highland Paradise, high up in the steep hills of Rarotonga. Following a soft luncheon, we head back for an afternoons before returning to Highland Paradise in the evenings, where we will spend an immersive nights of culture and celebration - get ready for an enjoyable Cook Islands dinner!
In the mornings we attend a local primary education where we have the chance to meet the schoolchildren, who are known for their cheerful smiles and their marvellous interest in foreigners. You can also take the chance to buy souvenirs at the last moment or enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Cook Island before a day -long shuttle to the international airports.
