Throughout the four nights we were enjoying tasty things like Banana, Blueberry, Pineapple and fresh prepared Fruity Cupcakes, Croissant, Yoghurt oder Orangensaft.
Breakfasts are served every mornings between 8.00 a.m. and 8.30 a.m. on the terrace, unless indicated the previous evening, and you can enjoy your breakfasts either in or outdoors. It is a small island, but there is a great deal to do. First, there are sandy areas all over the island.
Many of them also have great snorkeling places along the riff and Ikurangi provides free snorkels and masks. Apart from the normal aquatic sports, such as kayak and snorkeling, there are other outdoor pursuits such as bike rides, exploring beautiful tropic parks and a canal. There are also various walks in the mountain area of Rarotonga, either with a guide or by yourself.
If required, the front desk will be happy to reserve these services for you. There' s a small swimming pools, set in a wonderful green ery and rock garden, with many deck chairs around the swimming pools, just a few minutes away from all rooms. It is a perfectly temperate, not too cool, but very invigorating on a warm sunny mornings.
It is about 10 minutes walking distance to the sea, but most likely you will rent one of their free bikes or a motorbike / rental vehicle, with which you can get to all the nice sands around Rarotonga with ease. Rarotonga is generally Auckland (New Zealand) with several daily services with Air New Zealand, Virgin Australia and Jetstar. When you land, do not count on a taxi, as you are not permitted to board the aircraft and there are usually only a few on the island.
There is also a shuttle service that goes around the island every 30 to 60 min in both direction (clockwise and counter-clockwise). They can stop anywhere along the highway (e.g. directly in front of the airport) and ask the drivers to take you to the Takitumu school for the Ikurangi Eco Residence, from there it is only a 10 minute walking distance to the Residence.
Parking is available directly at Ikurangi Ecotreat after 10 to 15 minutes driving from the Aiport. But the Ikurangi Ecotreat is the ideal retreat if you are looking for a remote holiday, a breathtaking mountain scenery and a full eco-experience without compromises in terms of luxurious. Every moment of our sojourn here we were in love and would not think twice about reserving the Ikurangi Ecological Retreat for our next trip to Rarotonga and the Cook Islands.
