Do you plan a diving excursion to Chuuk?! When you are not a scuba-diver or, at least, a snorkeller, you can select another isle, as there is not much more to do. Yes, it is a luxuriant, hilly archipelago, which probably contains nice falls with panorama views and who knows what else.

and that' s what they offer. Really, there are only two possibilities on the Weno Isle. Truk stop is right in the city, near the international airports and the Blue Lagoon Estate. Situated a few leagues outside the city, it is a luxurious full-service resource, at least for Chuuk living up to the bar.

It' a small isle, they're doing what they can, but they don't expect it to be the Hilton. Yes, there are other hostels on the isle, but just don't leave me there when I say! The hardcore divers, who have enough cash to make a diving boat, can choose from a wide range of diving packages, from nighttime to a week.

For a true Robinson Crusoe adventure, the Blue Lagoon Resort offers campsites and small cabins on some of the smaller islets that can be hired. Truk Stop and Blue Lagoon both have their own diving operations and are good at the same time. This part of the journey was not reserved - it was reserved by a buddy and we drove through the Blue Lagoon.

There is a good chance that your skipper will stop on a small desert islet and you can shipwreck for a while. There are no resorts with swimminpools, no beach and the best case is that the web is spotted. There' s a couple of cabs, and they usually hung out at the Aiport.

I' m not sure I can really stress how poor the streets on the isle are. During the 45-minute trip to the Blue Lagoon we were passed by! And not to speak of the fact that unpaved streets are always damp and slippery - there is no haul.

Like most Micronesia's islets, Chuuk is a very traditional Pacific island civilization ruled by men. If you are wearing a swimsuit, you should always wear a sweater (no blanket!) I purchased a Chuucese dress from the small shop as soon as I arrived there. I took off my coat before I went to our diving and put it on when we got ashore.

Alcoholics are widespread on the islands, as is the use of betelnut. Betelnut is a small verdant walnut that can grow on certain species of palms. We boarded Chuuk around 8 pm after a rather long plane and took a cab to our little nearby resort.

We' ve booked into the guesthouse, which should stay anonymous (if you don't need to know the name, I gave you the only two options). It was too latecomer to change lodgings, so we tried to get some rest.
