Kiribati is a widely dispersed country, known as " Kir-ee-bahs ", situated in the Pacific Ocean at the edge of the equator and comprises the island groups Gilbert, Phoenix and Line. Kiribati was an important battleground during the Second World War, and some of the island were closed to atomic tests in the 1950'.
