Caros Island

This 28 February, the Netherlands based celebrity will be in Romania for the second appearance at her Bucharest performance at Sala Palatului. - and not just. What about this trip, what's new? We are very much influenced by a musical style named Exotica. It dreams of distant places, isles, jungle, the kind of sound you listen to in your mind.

We' ve got some new tracks that seem tropic for our new show, that together with some old tracks give the impression of being on a tropic island. Which is your favorite Tropic Island? Is this your second visit to Bucharest? To tell you the truth, the last I was there, I didn't have a second.

I sometimes have a chance to look around, but last in Bucharest I didn't. I may not know about the timetable this year. But it would be lovely. I' ve got a few day off, and on those dates we have to go to the next state. If I have to be in Bucharest in the morning, for example, I will go there today.

It' s nice when I can be recommended things because I don't have enough free space to do them. What is the amount of timeframe you need to arrange a gig? Well, it needs a long timeframe, it's group work. Everything begins with this notion, Emerald Isle.

We want to sing what kind of tunes, the nice arrangement that my band leader has to come up with, it all needs a while. It begins this procedure a few month before the start of the trip. We' rehearsing everything for a whole weeks, and then we take the necessary amount of rehearsal space.

Then we do the dress rehearsal, which also lasts 2 or 3 working nights, and then we go on touring. Everything is well thought out, for example we look for what the Emerald Island needs and make our choices from there.

Why did you start singing that kind of work? It all began by chance, I was studying jazzmusic and knew early on that I wanted to become a musician. It was a convenient decision for me to go for classical as well as jazzmusic.

To me it' s the base of all my work, I also like other types of work, for example popular tunes, so I try to make a mixture of them. If I' m on the road for a long while, I have the desire to go back to the gym, more to go into detail.

Are you emotionally moved when you appear before an audiences? Which is the ideal public for you? Of course, the ideal public is the one who leaves after the show with the impression of really having been somewhere that evening. It' also has something to do with what kind of location you're performing, how far you are from the people.

For example, I like it when the folks are singing along and know my tunes very well. In the beginning the crowd has to get warmed up, at the end everyone stands, smiling, dancin'. Apart from this trip, do you have another one this year?
