The Taveuni Island: The Tavoro Falls, Bouma

The Tavoro Falls are part of Bouma Heritage Park and are probably at the top of Taveuni's itinerary. In order to reach the highest falls, a 3-hour mountain and valley walk is necessary; 3 increasingly difficult paths that will take you to the heights above the town of Korovou and past the Tavoro riverfalls.

A 10-minute stroll to Fiji's first and most popular cascade, Bouma Falls. 80-year-old shaky moms have made it, it's an ordinary stroll in the garden, in the truest sense of the word. Then, we continue up a row of serpentines (this is the difficult part, but only lasts 20 minutes!), past great vistas of Qamea and Matagi and Laucala to the second cascade.

Third case is an adventurous one. On the way you will see many of the birdlife and the Fiji forest of which some are nowhere else to be seen in Fiji (think of endemics!). Chill out by floating under the waterfalls in all vulcanic basins on every plane.

On the way there you must stop at the Tavoro Visitor Center for admission and it is a good place for beverages and after-hikes.
