Isle of Bora Bora: the most beautyful in the world

The Bora Bora (approx. 8,800 inhabitants) is a vulcanic volcano in the Society Islands arcipelago approx. 230 km northwest of Tahiti, the isle is approx. 29 km large and is traversed by a sole street of 32 km length, which extends along the coastline. The Bora Bora is a rocky and hilly area, overlooked by the summits of Otemanu (727 m) and Pahia (661 m), which make the nature of the islands special.

It is a wonderful natural lake around the entire length of the archipelago, surrounded by a unique opening, the Te Ava Nue Pass. There are a number of Polynesian isles, named moto in the Laguna, which are almost a continous stretch along the east and north of the isle, these small ones have idylic shores and from here you have a splendid view of the principal isle and its typical peak.

Bora Bora International is situated on the northernmost of the lagoons, Motu Mute. Bora Bora's main centre is the small city of Vaitape on the western shore, other small towns are Faanui and Anau. Bora Bora is probably the most popular of the French Polynesian islands, known for its magnificent Laguna and the special shape of its highest peak, Mount Otemanu (727 m).

Surrounding the isle is an almost full length body of sea corals, only accessible through a single passage, the Te Ava Nue Passport, and along the islet there are many islands (motu in Polynesia), which have a beautiful view of the major isle with its peaks and beautiful beaches.

The Bora Bora is a 32 km long street that goes along the coastline, the street is great for cycling, are only 32 km shallow street, it lasts about 2-3 hrs at most bus-stop. You can stop along the street around the main land at the remains of the many World War II artilleries that the Americans never set up here in expectation of a Jap raid.

There are also old ruins on the islands, there are in fact some old Polyynesian monasteries (marae), all along the street or a few miles from it, among them the ones of Marina Aehua-tai, Taharuuu, Fare-Opu (which has on its rock petroglyphic of turtles), Taianapa and Marotetini. There is only one sandy area on the principal isle at Matira Point at the south tip of Bora Bora, other sandy areas are plentiful at Motor boat in the Laguna.

The most common means of transportation to Bora Bora Bora Bora is by aeroplane, Tahiti Airport, the domestic carrier in Polynesia has frequent and frequent domestic services to Tahiti and with some of the other islands and the Tuamotu archipelago. Tahiti-Bora Bora is operated by 8-10 departures a day, some are scheduled services, while others fly to Huahine, Raiatea or Maupiti.

Tahiti-Bora Bora is a 50-minute non-stop flight. It is also linked by scheduled services to the Tuamotu Isles of Rangiroa, Fakarava, Tikehau and Manihi. You will be taken to a small town of Vaitape by sea when you reach the international airports. The trip will take place in the Laguna of the Isle. This is one of the best transfers in the world.

Another way to get to Bora Bora Bora is by Hawaiki Nui (2 rides per week) and Vaeanu (3 rides per week), which link Tahiti with Huahine, Taha'a, Raiatea and Bora Bora. It takes between 16 and 18 hrs by boat from Tahiti to Bora Bora.
