When our little plane was ready to dock at Bora Bora International Bora airfield, every one of our passengers rushed to the window to take a look at the world. Dazzling blue waters glittered below, interrupted only by the small outlines of the above-water balows that stretch into the pristine bay. Asking my friend to find out what they knew about the Franco-Polynese Isles, the answers were almost identical: that it is an icons of honeymooning destinations, a paradise for celebrities and the home of surface flooded bungalow with cans.

But Bora Bora Bora Bora has more to offer than Kim Kardashian West's renowned diamondshoop. Some important takeaway I learnt during my stay in paradise at The St. Regis Bora Bora and Le Meridien: Not all surface vaults are the same, design activity is a must and Tahiti is more approachable than you think.

No matter what you do, don't enter Bora Bora into Google Maps - it will appear as a minute point in the center of the sea, a mile away from any mileage. Papeete is a French Polynesian island eight and a half hours from Los Angeles. Tahiti's most popular archipelago, Bora Bora Bora Bora, is only 50 minutes from Papeete.

In addition, the major airfield is so small that it is quite secure to make a connection with a minimum stopover to get to your destination even quicker. In contrast to most airfields, your holiday also begins in Bora Bora. This archipelago is only 12 km2, so the airfield is located on an unspoilt piece of countryside with clear waters.

It can be hard to know which travel photos are lifelike thanks to the use of Instagram and Fotoshop filtering. When we drove to Le Meridian and St. Regis Bora Bora, where we had spread our times over the next few weeks, our views were saucy: our heads were up: our heads were up: our heads were up: our ears were up: our back: our eyes were open: It is also due to the presence of clear waters that Bora Bora's lagoons are so special.

It is thought that the main volcano island, Mount Otemanu, was created a few million years ago. It is a nature park with small islets known as "motus", piles of corals and a variety of sea creatures, among them tortoises and mantas. Honeymoons are flocking to Bora Bora for the luxury surface bungalow that stretches across the Laguna like palms - but before you make your reservation, you know that no two resort are alike.

Whilst a bungalow can look the same from the outside, the dimensions, equipment and furnishings differ considerably according to price and area. One of the first large Bora Bora Bora Bora resort to open, St. Regis has one of the best sites on the lake, located on a 44-hectare plot with unrivalled Mt. Otemanu view and a protected secluded gorge.

Some of the most luxury accommodations have two double rooms and a swimming pool. When you and your S.O. are looking for mansions with reed roofs that look more like a chalet than a full-fledged house, think of Le Meridien. Characteristic cottages are just over 500 sq. metres in size and have the biggest glazed bottoms in Bora Bora, so you can see the sea from your beds.

When you stay at St. Regis, apply for a free shuttle service to the centre - they belong to the same group and are among the few remaining free shuttle buses between the houses. Bora Bora visits most of her bungalows and on the grounds of the estate, says Richard Schilling, General Director of St. Regis, but it's definitely a good idea to discover everything Bora Bora has to show from your mansion there.

However, most hotels provide daily excursions to the nearby dive sites and dive sites. For a longer stay and looking for a new place to eat, ask your local center for a shuttle to the island, Mount Otemanu.

Maybe Bora Bora is the gem of Tahiti, but it is also a good base for exploring Franco Polynesia.
