What makes Hawaii a grown-up's heaven?
Childless Hawaii? However, if you are looking tough enough - or waiting for the end of the holiday - the state of Aloha offers some great opportunities for adults. Don't get me wrong: I have travelled around Hawaii with kids of all age groups, from infants to teenagers, and have always loved my time.
It' great to see intimate places with refreshing looks - and have the pretext of taking child-friendly trips that adults come past (aloha, Dole Pineapple Train and Sea Life Park). However, for a couple, sometimes a little bit of mature life is exactly what the attending physician has ordered. If you are a single person who is sometimes able to stay in a childless area without having to sit and waiting, it may be just as welcome to go crazy until after sunset.
There are no resorts for adults in the Caribbean in the city, but if you can come after Labor Day and pay the bill (from $395 per night), Hotel Hana-Maui will offer childless accommodation for the remainder of September. Kona Village is also proud of its loneliness and tranquility on the Big Island; although the bungalow-style environment never completely prohibits bungalows, the free children's programmes are cancelled in May and September - when the least traveling family.
For example, the Aloha Pualani Hotel Boutique is a six-suite hotel with sea views in Kihei on Maui, which does not welcome under-16s; prices begin at $235 per person per city. In Kauai, the B&B guest house at Poipu Plantation Resort near Brennecke Beach is for adults only, although we welcome guests in the more contemporary and roomy holiday apartments in the area; B&B prices begin at $135 per room per day for a min. of three nights.
Hula Kai on Big Island - a fast 55-foot long and spacious expansive kayak - provides snorkeling trips along the south shore of Kona in the mornings and afternoons from 18 years of age. From Keauhou Bay, the five-hour early bird drive will include a warm and cool breakfastsuffet, a midday grill and at least two stopovers in places where the Hula Wharf is generally the only ferry (unlike the picturesque but busy Kealakekua Bay, where the family-friendly sibling of the Hula Wharf, Fair Wind II, sails).
It is $155 for the early bird trip, but considering it's two lunches and two trips in one pack - and the friendly staff is both green and safety-oriented - it's definitely a good idea to jump if you can. You can also reserve an adults afternoons trip on the Hula Quay with a $125 snack and BBQ in the middle of the year.
Included in the two-hour trip are a rental, a refreshment bar and beverages for $64 (plus seasonal whalewatching). It is only available on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 24 August to 15 June (i.e. not during the secondary modern holidays). On the other hand, if you expect to see Hawaii in summer without children, you will need a permission to walk the remotest areas of the state and put up your tent. 2.
Or, you could take your Hwaiian musical CD discs and aluminium DAYS with you to the sandals in St. Lucia or elsewhere in the Caribbean and peer to make the landscape look like Hawaii. However, the simplest way is if you choose to spend your childless time is if you can, and if it looks like you're caught in a Brady Bunch show.
