Report from Castaway Island Resort Fiji
Name Castaway Iceland and most folks think of the picture Castaway Away with Tom Hanks. However there are two big discrepancies between the film, which was made in Fiji and Castaway Iceland Resort. It' not on Castaway Isle. The majority of the activity took place on the near-by Modriki islet, a small courtyard that is a 20-minute speedboat trip from the resort.
Contrary to Tom Hanks, you won't be in any rush to get out of Castaway Island Resort. During our visit our family has seen some pairs, but this resort is really ideal for family. Featuring a marvelous children's nightclub, a cheerful, relaxed Fiji atmosphere and many other great games for your childrens, it's almost heaven on earth if you're a parental figure.
These are some hints to help you get the most out of your time at Castaway Island Resort. It' important to know that all rooms (except the family bed) are equal and very spacious inside, with at least two beds/beds in one room and a king-size one in the other.
The Boers are spread out in the interior of the islands and most of them are covered with indigenous bush. They have no official sea view, but if you are fortunate you might get one of the few with attractive'sea views'. Thought a few of the Iceland Boers near the coast could almost be classified as Oceans View, but what you get is good for you.
These Boers are exactly the same inside as the most costly on the beach, as I have already said, so they are certainly a lot from this view. The beachfront beautifully located near the sea offers breathtaking, continuous sea-view. But when it gets breezy, the Boers are quite prominent on the'windy' side of the isle, which means that it is not very convenient to be outside on the terrace (you would almost get blowed away!).
On the other side of the isle there are also beachfront bures that are not subject to the winds, but they miss the major beaches for snorkeling and bathing. They' re not as intimate as the ones on the other side of the islands, but if you have small kids, you can see them at work.
It is remarkable that it was not at all windy on my last visit to Castaway. Because of this, if I would remain in a Beachfront Bure, I would be willing to apply for one outside the central beaches, as there is a little more intimacy over this side of the isle.
They might think it's insane of me to say that the media rate room is actually better, but this is something that our whole family consented to. There is still a great sea view between the other boes and because this lodging is situated back from the sea, you are sheltered from the sun in bad weathers.
We were not disturbed by the breeze on our balconies even on an extreme stormy outing. Even if you want to go and enjoying the hammocks near the Beachfront Bures, there is no proble. The 11-year-old took a look at "all the little children" and said that he would never go to the children's nightclub, although it seemed like everyone was having a good time.
After visiting some of the resort activity for all age groups, but led by the children's clubs crew, he was convinced by the kind and passionate people. So we teamed up with the other visitors and their children and made Fiji books and signed up for a football match that was open to all age groups.
In the course of these events, the employees invited our boy to "try out" the children's association that evening and he was addicted to it. Especially during the overnight programme the students are split into several older and younger groups. My boy liked to hang out with boys his own size and had an absolutely great game.
An Xbox or Playstation cannot be found in this children's nightclub, which is what a parent (and finally their children) really like. Youngsters will enjoy every moment of the children's clubs programme. Indeed, we happened to overhear how a parent joked that they had to put their feet on the ground and demand some family leave, as their child would have stayed at the children's center all morning (and night) if they had allowed it.
When your child is older, the overnight programme is a true winners. If your child thinks they are too old for a children's nightclub, you should still be encouraging them to join in and try. Elder lymphs can unsubscribe from the programme (with the parents' permission), which has worked well for our family.
He could go to the children's nightclub for about an hours and then visit us whenever he wanted. It' almost not possible to loose each other, because the isle is very small. First of all, this affected us because we had been hearing terrible tales about the costs of eating in Fiji and about how especially homes should definitely be paying for a food itinerary.
Since most of the products used on the islands come from biological cultivation, even the most simple meals taste great. Most of the day we had our dinner at the Sundowner Picnic Bar & Grill, because the wood-fired Mt. of Hawaii was prepared with fresh pineapples and enjoyed a great taste. A normal and a kid's was more than enough for the three of us.
The resort's grocery rates were generally what you would have expected in Australia, and the portions were ample. No more than we spent in a mid-range resort in Australia. Our last evening we had the characteristic 1808 dinner at the Lance Seeto star chef's place, which combines traditional chefs from China and Fiji with applause.
Normally the restaurant is operated as a seperate outside area in 1808, but the wind condition made it impossible to open it on the 3 evenings we were there. It is remarkable that Castaway Island Resort specializes in specific diet requests. Fortunately we have no allergy to foods, but if this is a problem for your family, you should definitely consider making this resort your first resort of selection.
On the subject of your baby's physical condition, Castaway has a local doctor so if your baby comes down with something like an otitis, immediate help is available. At Castaway there are two different swimmingpools for the selection. There is a private children's swimming area, one of which is quite flat at one end, with a few jets of runningýwater.
You and your children can have as much madness as you want without worrying. There' s also a'Serenity Pool', which is not necessarily'no children allowed', but encourages the parent to keep the peace of the swimming pools. Most of the times this worked well, although some of my mum and dad became apathetic.
Well, I think everyone has "left" a different idea of when it comes to children. Snorkelling was not something we had high expectations for, as it was very lackluster on earlier journeys to Fiji. The " Housereef " directly at the Castaway beaches is nevertheless magnificent, especially if you pass the cliff on the right side of the coast and snorkell at the adjoining one.
As a family we snorkelled a great deal and were impressed by the calibre of the corals and the quantity of them. When you snorkel with kids, it's great to snorkel from the beaches, as it's much simpler for teens and/or novices to get into the waters from here.
We also went snorkeling to the Castaway Drop-off, a shallow dive 10 minutes by sea from the resort. When you are looking for a family excursion with Fiji flair where you can do as much or as little as you want, Castaway Island Resort is difficult to be beaten.
