Archeologists believe that the remnants of humanity found in Azerbaijan's Azykh Cave are over one million years old and the oldest ever found.

The first Turkish dictatorship, Ghaznavids, was founded in Azerbaijan in 1030 AD, followed by the state of Jalayirid in 1300.
