Auckland to Waiheke Ferry
Waiheke to Auckland FerryThe ferry is actually nearer to the airfield, but not as often. Auckland city centre can be reached by sky bus from the aerodrome. I am an Aucklander, and I have often used the former airline flight support. However, the new itinerary and the changes in busses on top Queen Street let me know that in the near term I would use an alternate (like a shuttle) if I could prevent it.
But, yes, if you have a lot of free travel and don't aim for a particular ferry, then you will finally arrive at Customs Street in the city centre to dock. Though I thought the last in Auckland I had a lot of free day from the airfield to my ferry (with Skybus), I lost my sail and had to go for the next Waiheke-Boot.
So now I have schedule to use a door-to-door shuttles on my next journey. There' ll be two of us, so one shuttlecraft should work well. Frangipani, thanks for the first-hand information about the Skybus - some folks have said here on TA that the changes are creating difficulties - I just hopefully all Skybus have given us feedbacks so they can be changed and improved!
Transiters like me, who have to get to the Ferry Building at the end of the line, will then provide a smaller connecting coach. However, good tidings for those who stay on Hobson Street are that Skybus now stops somewhere near Skycity. When I gave Skybus some feed-back (like in Melbourne, where it makes a lot of sense) and increased the cost - no answer was the answer.
Your experience and your comments are appreciated. At the end we took the Super Shuttle to the ferry terminal, and they were great!
