Only disadvantage was the showers. You will need to clean yourself with an Indian-style pail and shovel because the hydrostatic force is very untrustworthy and only supplies flowing waters for about a third of the usual flush. They' re going to bring some boiling kettle of kettle for you. At least it's a nice little showers.

Fiji is a rather pricey place for a less developed nation, as room rates and standard are lower in Australia than in Southeast Asia. However at many budget Island resorts and some of the more distant, up-to-date Boutiqueresorts, Meals and some actions are included, making the cost seem more costly than it really is.
There is usually nowhere else to dine on the Outlands but at the resortaurant, which can increase the costs of your sojourn. However, there is a great variety on the island, with some dive, surf and eco-tour destinations, while others specialise in recreation and good food. Out of the capitals, almost every place is located on a sandy spot or with a view of the ocean and is known as a holiday destination, regardless of its comforts.
With the highest concentration of accommodations located in Nadi and on the southern shore of Viti Levu, the cheapest accommodations, as well as in the Mamanucas, which offer splendid seaside locations from the budgeted to the upper segment. Irrigation is leaner but appropriate in hotels, residences and shop areas around Viti Levu in the countryside and on the Outlying Isles of Kadavu, Ovalau, Vanua Levu and Taveuni, the latter of which are also favoured for longer trips and cottages.
In addition, in the far-flung runaways of the Lomaiviti group, the Lau group and Rotuma, shelters are in short supply and the general infrastructures are fundamental. There are many accessible seaside destinations around the island for those on a budget, with inexpensive rooms and sleeping accommodations in most cities.
Getting a discount directly from the resort is hard, although the big global hotel companies usually offer enticing website promotion. It is best if you look for pure overnight offers over the net. Most of the resort offers everything in the Fiji Dollar (F$) although some of the more upscale resort, especially those that focus on the US markets, are denominated in US$.
In Fiji all prices are per room and not per night, except for dormitory-bed. When in Fiji, some resort offers walk-in fares on request, but rarely in backpackers' lodges. In order to promote longer holidays, many resort offers a "stay six/pay five" or similar incentives. The rooms with views of the beaches and the oceans are for sale at a discount, but please bear in mind that the term is often equivocal - a "beachfront" office may not be located directly on the beaches and an "Ocean View" room may only see a part of the oceans through a tree or other building.
In most cases, everything from meals to activity within a room or residence is billed to your room and at the end of your visit you will be billed by your Visa or MasterCard, sometimes with a small charge for the ticket services. There are about a couple of large hotels on the Viti Levu islands, especially on the Denarau islands and along the coral coast.
Contrary to the vast US all-inclusive resort, most are "pay as you go" and give you the liberty to dine where you want and do as little or as much as you want. Aside from two large seaside in the Mamanucas, most of the accommodation on the Outback is small, private resort boutiques.
Fiji's specialty is a small fashion house on a isolated shore on a outlying isle. Some of the more upscale shop areas are all-inclusive, some even with spirits included in the prices. Most of them have 24-hour receptions, small stores, room services, night shutdowns, dining and solarium bar, as well as dive and spa/massage amenities.
Guest houses in Fiji are usually timber houses in rural design with basic rooms, common rooms and common baths. Usually inexpensive, with rooms less than $60, they provide a comfortable base for travelers travelling off the beaten track; keep in mind that guest houses are often used by officials on the outskirts of the island or isolated villages.
The ones in Nadi and Suva on the central islands draw travelers, while in the small cities of Vanua Levu, Ovalau and Taveuni several enchanting host families and independent chalets are mostly run by expats and are charged from F$100 per city. Fiji has a vast amount of cheap accommodations, although those who expect South East Asia rates will probably be frustrated.
Backpackers of the Awesome Adventures (awesomefiji.com) are generally dependable, as are members of the Association (fiji-backpacking.com), although if you stay at these establishments you miss the cranky places that provide a true glimpse of the city. One of the more popular names is "Backpacker Resort", which can be found all over the island and even in Nadi.
In Fiji, there is no promotion of rugged tenting - it is felt by the Fijians as an offence, as if they were saying that the town is not good enough for sleeping. Several backpackers allow however the setting up of marquees within their area and several organised trips, with the agreement of villagers, make a short term campsite on remote sands.
